MITEC (Marine Industry Training & Education Council) has been a board of industry representatives since its inception. As part of a meeting at IBEX 2011, those board members recommended a by-laws change that dramatically change and increase the structure of the group by opening it up to dues-paying members. This move should go a long way toward creating a central clearinghouse for everyone involved in marine industry training, whether they are working in colleges, secondary schools, private businesses, online, or on the job.
